If you’re struggling to come up with ideas of your niche website, then this Brainstorm markets, niches or micro niches blog post is for you.

In today’s easy seo guide post, we’ll be reviewing the hierarchy of keywords, market niche and micro niche. We’ll be looking at some of the best sources for coming up with niche ideas. And we’ll be coming up with seven market and niche ideas of our own that we can delve deeper into later.

Markets, Niches and Micro Niches

Let’s begin by briefly recapping some of the most important concepts from previous easy seo guide blog post around what is a niche.

A market is a community of people who share a common interest in a particular subject or activity online; for example, Bali, golf or weddings.

Within each market, there are many smaller sub-markets known as niches, related to specific topics within a market. Within the Bali market, we might come across the niche ‘Bali Vacation’. Within the wedding market, we might see the niche ‘wedding photography’.

Within each niche, there are many smaller sub-niches known as micro niches. Beneath the niche ‘Bali vacation’, we might see micro niches ‘Bali Surfing spots’ or ‘Bali surfing lessons’ or ‘Bali surfing guide’.

And micro niches that we might discover in the niche ‘wedding photography’ might include ‘wedding photography tips’, ‘bridal portraits’ and ‘becoming a wedding photographer’

At each step down, we step into smaller and more specific markets; meaning that there are fewer potential customers in a micro niche than in a niche or a market, but there are also fewer competitors making a micro niche and an attractive place for us to start a small online business.

Generating Market and Niche Ideas

Our goal today is to brainstorm some market and niche ideas that we can delve deeper into later to discover some great micro niches.

Chances are, you’ve already got some ideas for niches and markets, but if you’re struggling to come up with several ideas, here are a two places you might like to try: Amazon Magzines and Google’s Search-based keyword tool.

Amazon.com

Amazon.com is a great place to find markets and niches. I like to begin in the magazine section, because I know that if there’s a magazine devoted to a topic, then it’s likely that there will be people searching for information online about that topic, too.

To make our life easier, here I have provided some lists and links of HOT keywords and HOT HEADLINE in the right sidebar of this site which allows you to explore your niche ideas, or the Amazon magazine previews below:

Google Search Based Keyword Tool

The next tool that I want to share with you is the Google Search-based Keyword Tool. You can find it at:

http://www.Google.com/sktool

This is another great tool for finding interesting markets or niches. Once you’re here, scroll to the bottom of the page and you’ll see a link that says Or see top keywords across all categories. Give that a click.

This will take you to a page where you can begin browsing through markets and niches that Google knows about. Let’s go into the hobbies market again [clicks Hobbies & Leisure in the menu on the left of the screen].

Underneath Hobbies, we see a list of subcategories including Arts & Crafts. If we gave one of them a click, we would see a list of niche ideas that relate to the arts & crafts niche.

You’ll notice that these are very different to the ones that we saw on Amazon.com for a similar category, which is why the Google Search-based Keyword Tool is another good place for brainstorming market and niche ideas.

Of course, there are a lot of other great places that you can try if you’re having trouble coming up with niche or market ideas such as bookstores, the yellow pages, eBay or Craigslist.

But the Google Search-based Keyword Tool and Amazon.com are two searches that you can use to begin searching for niche ideas right away.

One of the big problems that we see day after day is that many people try to start an online business without really understanding how the Internet works. The good news is that by reading and following this easy SEO guide blog, you gain a big advantage over those people who are starting from scratch that are trying to figure out everything for themselves.

In this seo basic guide post, we’ll be looking at a number of important concepts related to keyword research. This includes understanding what online markets really are; understanding niches and how they relate to markets; and then, we’ll take a look at the role of keywords and why they are so very important.

When you first start exploring the world of Internet marketing, you’ll often hear people talking about different online markets. The best definition of a market is that it’s a community of people who share a common interest in a particular subject or activity. Often, this community has its own language, which is made up of terms and acronyms that only makes sense to other members of the community.

The easiest way to understand this view of a market is to take a look at some examples. The Bali vacation market is made up of people who are currently planning their vacation. Their area of interest is of course, Bali vacation. And some examples of the language that is used by members of this market include Bali tours, which is an abbreviation for ‘Bali tour service’; Kintamani, which stands for ‘the volcano view’; and Kuta, which stands for ‘kuta beach’.

Niche.

Now, let’s move on and take a look at the concept of niches. What is a niche?
Within every market, you’ll find multiple niches. A niche is a subset of a market that relates to a specific topic. The easiest way to understand the distinction between a market and a niche is to take a look at an example.

Members of the Bali Vacation market will be interested in a wide range of topics that relate to Bali Vacation. These include Bali Photos, Bali bird park, Bali surfing, Bali hotels and Bali maps. Each of these topics can be thought of as a niche that would be of a specific interest to members of the Bali vacation market.

Micro Niche

In this easy search engine optimization blog, we take things a step further and drill down to find what we call micro niches. Micro Niches are niches within niches. For example, within the Bali surfing, a micro niche might be ‘Bali surfing spots’. The main reason we look for micro niches is that there’s generally less competition in micro niches, which gives us a much better chance of obtaining a front page ranking in Google.

Keywords

Now, let’s take a look at keywords and how they relate to market niches. Keywords are the words or phrases that members of a market type into a search engine in order to explore a particular niche.

For example, Sarah and Karen are both members of the Bali Vacation market.
When Sarah sits down at her computer to explore the Bali surfing niche, she enters the keyword phrase ‘Bali surfing spots’ into Google. Google then returns a list of sites that contain tips for getting great Bali surfing spots.

When Karen uses Google to explore the Bali surfing niche, she enters the keyword phrase
‘Bali surfing lessons’. Naturally, she receives a different set of results to Sarah because her keyword phrase has a different focus.

The first thing to notice here is that Sarah and Karen are both exploring the same market niche. However, they generate a very different view of their niche based on the keyword phrase they enter into Google.

A great way to think of keyword phrases is that each phrase is literally a key that unlocks a specific door to provide access to a market niche.

The second important thing to note is that the number of people using each keyword phrase to explore a niche varies greatly. For example, on average, 217 people per day use the keyword phrase ‘Bali surfing spots’ to explore the Bali surfing niche.

In contrast, only five people use the phrase ‘Bali surfing lessons’ to access the niche.

This means that each keyword phrase has a value based on the number of people who are using it to access a particular niche. The keyword phrase ‘Bali surfing spots’ generates more traffic to the Bali surfing niche than the phrase ‘Bali surfing lessons.’ As a result, the phrase ‘Bali surfing spots’ is considered to be a more valuable keyword phrase than the phrase ‘Bali surfing lesson’.
